About Us

The Genetic Clinic is staffed by genetic counsellors who are both members of the Australasian Society of Genetic Counsellors and registered genetic counsellors with the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA). The Genetic Clinic adheres to the HGSA policies and guidelines that ensure high ethical standards of clinical practice. If you enquiry is better suited to seeing a Clinical Geneticist, we can assist you accessing the appropriate clinical genetics service.  
 


Lisa Bristowe completed the Graduate Diploma of Genetic Counselling from Newcastle University in 2000. Lisa brings two decades of experience as a Genetic Counsellor working previously at Liverpool Hospital and currently at Sydney Children's Hospital. Lisa brings expertise and skills in the area of general genetic counselling and has a special interest in genetics of hearing loss, neuromuscular conditions and neurodegenrative genetic conditions. With a background in psychology, Lisa has a special interest in the psychosocial impact of genetic disease on the family. Lisa is a certified and registered Genetic Counsellor with the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA). Lisa is a current member of the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) committee, which is a sub-committee of the HGSA Board of Censors for Genetic Counselling.  



 


 
Mr_Ron_Fleischer

 
Ron Fleischer completed the Graduate Diploma of Genetic Counselling from Newcastle University in 2000. Since then he has worked as a genetic counsellor in family cancer clinics, as well as prenatal, paediatric and adult genetic clinics. He has served as the NSW state representation to the Australasian Society of Genetic Counsellors and attended and presented at numerous Human Genetic Society of Australasia conferences.  He has a special interest in prenatal screening and diagnosis.
